‘Their trust was violated’: Horses face long recovery after alleged stabbings

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The three horses allegedly stabbed on May 30 at a barrel racing competition are likely to face a long recovery, according to local horse owners.

“These horses trust have been violated in the most deepest, horrific ways possible in their stall,” said Horses 4 Heroes founder Sydney Knott, who has been keeping track of the injured horses recovery on social media. “Just like any victim of any attack, they have deep-seated PTSD, deep-seated wounds, and they will remember these things for quite a long time.”

Although Knott could not comment on specific injuries, she speculates the emotional recovery of the animals will be as long as the physical recovery.

“There’s a lot more damage to be done, unfortunately through vet treatments that are going to be very uncomfortable,” said Aubrey Lober, Horses 4 Heroes volunteer. “Redressing those injuries and things like that that compound trauma. So you’re almost working backwards while working forwards at that point.”…
