LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Eight months after he was released from prison after serving time on a firearms charge, a Las Vegas man was charged with possession of a ghost gun, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
Noel Lynn Waters, who had previously admitted having a privately made pistol patterned after an AR-15 was sentenced Thursday to 80 months in prison. U.S. District Judge Richard F. Boulward also sentenced Waters to three years of supervised release when his prison term is completed. Prosecutors had asked for a term of 130 months in prison.
Ghost guns are firearms without serial numbers, which makes them difficult, if not impossible, to trace. They are often assembled from separate parts ordered online.
