Grapevine Fire grows to 26,203 acres, 0% contained as red flag warning persists

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Grapevine Fire has burned an estimated 26,203 acres and remains 0% contained as critical fire weather continues to fuel active fire behavior.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect over the fire area through Saturday evening, with active fire behavior expected to persist in the Bunker Pass area and the Mud Springs area because of high winds and low relative humidity. Firefighters have continued making steady progress securing containment features across the southern and western portions of the fire.

Crews have been reinforcing the Bunker Hill Road system, using heavy equipment and hand crews to expand existing fuel breaks and strengthen containment features. Contingency lines to the north and east are being evaluated to determine their viability if they are needed.
