1 October mass shooting site to reopen as parking lot August 1

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The 2-acre Las Vegas site of the 1 October memorial will remain untouched, but 15 acres surrounding the grounds of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history will reopen next month as a parking lot, according to signs posted to the property.

Last week, Las Vegas Strip workers noticed posters around the 1 October mass shooting site displaying, “PARKING COMING SOON! AUGUST 1.” The number on the poster goes to an accounting office for Parking System of America for the location, which was purchased in 2023 by the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.
