LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Firefighters battling the Ward Fire worked through the night to take advantage of cooler temperatures and lower relative humidity as the blaze grew to about 3,770 acres with zero containment.
Crews reported burnout operations along the east side of the fire went well and are holding. On the ground, today’s focus is establishing and reinforcing the anchor point on the east side. Firefighters are constructing dozer lines and implementing handlines where safety conditions allow, efforts aimed at bolstering containment and creating a stronger foothold for continued suppression.
Aviation resources, including helicopters equipped for bucket operations, are supporting ground crews with targeted water drops to reduce fire intensity and assist suppression efforts…
