LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Las Vegas nonprofit says rising diaper costs are hitting local families hard, and hundreds lined up Wednesday for help.
Baby’s Bounty hosted its Las Vegas diaper bank, with about a thousand families registered for free diapers and wipes.
Diaper need rising in Nevada
CEO Kelly Maxwell said about half of family’s nationwide struggle with “diaper need,” the gap between what they need and what they can afford. She said demand in Nevada has surged in recent years.
Maxwell said it now costs around $1,200 a year to diaper one child, and diaper prices are increasing again about 5% because most diapers are made with petroleum-based materials…
