‘Arrive alive, you stay alive’: UMC charge nurse recalls 1 October response after 9 years

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) —A charge nurse who worked at the University Medical Center Trauma Center the night of the 1 October shooting is speaking to the media for the first time about that night.

Leaders tell FOX5 they didn’t know how many patients were coming from the Route 91 Harvest Festival concert. First staff heard 10 people, then 20, then many more.

‘You arrive alive, you stay alive’

Charge Nurse Julie Anderson says frontline staff helped resuscitate gunshot wound victims as they arrived and worked to get them stable to go to the operating room or intensive care unit.

“At least in the Trauma Center we always say if you arrive alive you stay alive. So, we do everything that we can. We put our heart and soul into it, and we don’t ever give up. Until there’s absolutely no hope,” Anderson said…
