UPDATE: Arrest made in deadly double hit-and-run, second driver helps identify first

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas Metropolitan police have arrested one of the drivers in a double hit-and-run that left a bicyclist dead Friday morning. Police said the second driver helped identify the first vehicle which led to the arrest.

The bicyclist was killed on eastbound Lake Mead Boulevard, near Losee Road, west of I-15. A bus driver called 911 to report a man lying on the road next to a bicycle around 2:30 a.m., Las Vegas Metro police said.

Kevin Searcy, who was driving a Kia Optima, was taken into custody and is facing hit-and-run related charges, police said.

According to police, Searcy struck the rear of the bicyclist projecting the man onto the roadway and a second crash occurred when a driver in a Ford Econoline box truck ran over the bicyclist. That driver stopped but was unable to identify what he hit. Searcy returned to the scene briefly before fleeing.

When police located the second driver he was able to provide information on the Kia and identify it.
