Las Vegas shooting that left man dead inside car started as robbery involving weed: police

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A shooting that left a man dead in his car appears to be the result of a planned robbery over marijuana, according to documents 8 News Now obtained.

On Friday, April 10, shortly before 6:30 p.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department recieved a report of gunshots fired at an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Missouri Avenue near Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway.

Dispatch received several calls reporting hearing gunfire and seeing three suspects run away from the scene, according to an arrest report. Callers told police that the driver of a silver Dodge Magnum was shot and crashed into the side of a building at the Whitney Water Park, across the street from the apartment complex.

Arriving officers found the victim, later identified as Victor Powe, 59, in the vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper left arm and the back of his head, the report said. Medical personnel pronounced Powe dead at the scene…
