Driver in Las Vegas DUI crash that caused woman to lose pregnancy, left child hospitalized sentenced to up to 40 years

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The man who ran a red light while under the influence, causing a multi-vehicle crash that left several hospitalized, including a child, and caused a woman to lose her pregnancy, could serve up to 40 years in prison.

Judge Tara Newberry Thursday sentenced 28-year-old Maximiliano Chavez to 16 to 40 years in prison for the deadly DUI crash that left a mother and child hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and caused the mother to lose her pregnancy.

Newberry sentenced Chavez, after pleading guilty, to serve eight to 20 years consecutively for two counts of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm and 28-72 months concurrently for reckless driving…
