Metal fencing drops pedestrian deaths to zero on portion of Boulder Highway

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A metal fence installed along a deadly stretch of Boulder Highway has dropped pedestrian deaths from five per year to zero on that portion, prompting officials to expand the safety project.

Metro says the corridor between Nellis Boulevard and Flamingo Road has seen zero pedestrian fatalities in the past year after crews installed a 1,500-foot metal fence to stop jaywalking. The project to put the barrier up began in October 2024.
