Mandatory Summer Watering Restrictions with Southern Nevada Water Authority

The Southern Nevada Water Authority have their mandatory summer watering restrictions in effect through August 31st. Las Vegas Now stopped by Springs Preserve to learn more.

Summer really is one of the best times for us to be able to conserve water in Southern Nevada. The summer watering schedule is in effect. No watering on Sundays and no watering between 11 am and 7pm, that’s the hottest time of the day. So do your watering early in the morning or evening in order to help give your plants a good drink, before the evaporation takes effect.

For grass watering we recommend the cycle and soak method. What that means is that you are applying water to your grass in very short spurts and then allowing that water to soak in before the next cycle hits. We recommend 4 minutes for each cycle. Space those cycles an hour apart and do that 3 times. That’ll give your grass a total of 12 minutes and short sips of water…
