RTC proposes fare increase to address $118 million deficit, warns of route cuts

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Thousands of valley bus riders could see fare increases or lose their routes as the Regional Transportation Commission faces a $118.5 million annual deficit.

The RTC is proposing to raise fares for the first time in more than 15 years. Without the increase, the agency warns 40 percent of routes could be cut.

The proposed fare increases would raise single rides from $2 to $3, daily passes from $5 to $7, weekly passes from $20 to $25, and monthly passes from $65 to $80…
