Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Deputy Chief Branden Clarkson addressed motorists and families directly. “I ask you to please slow down and pay full attention to the roadways,” he said. He also issued a direct challenge to parents: “But I also want to talk about and urge all the parents to discuss the importance of all the traffic laws of riding a bicycle an e-scooter, and an e-bike,” Clarkson said. “It is a responsibility of the rider to understand and abide by all traffic laws while riding on the roadways.”
Lt. Michael Campbell, head of the CCSD Police Department Traffic Bureau, outlined the enforcement footprint for the weeks ahead. “We’re going to be present as much as possible,” he said. “We’re going to be in as many locations as we can. Stopping the vehicles that are driving too fast, reckless, the uke turns, everything that you normally see us doing.”
