FAA sends $60 million to Miami, Fort Lauderdale airports. What it’s for

The Federal Aviation Administration awarded millions to Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport as part of a larger investment in infrastructure across the country, according to a release by the agency.

The FAA has “invested more than $523 million in airports nationwide,” according to a May 28 announcement, with 332 grants distributed to airports in 43 states for “runway rehabilitation, apron and taxiway improvements, terminal upgrades, and other airfield investments.”

Miami International Airport received $41.9 million “for terminal reconstruction and fuel farm expansion.” Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport received $18.6 million “for new taxi lane construction.”…
