Girl, 11, shot in head outside Hallandale Beach McDonald’s grateful for ‘another chance’

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — An 11-year-old girl who was shot in the head outside a Hallandale Beach McDonald’s last weekend is continuing her recovery, thanking first responders, doctors and her parents as she spoke publicly for the first time Friday.

The girl, whose name is not being released at the request of police, remains at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital after she was wounded during a shooting Saturday outside the McDonald’s in the 800 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

“Thank you for the police. Thank you for the firefighters. Thank you for the doctors. Thank you for everything,” the girl said. “It feels like I have another chance.”…
