>> What started as a quiet night at Port Everglades quickly turned into a race to rescue three people from a capsized boat.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a 17-foot Boston Whaler vessel that had capsized approximately two miles offshore from the Port Everglades Inlet. Broward Sheriff’s Office Marine and Harbor Patrol deputies were notified to respond, as well as Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.
BSO Marine Patrol Deputy Alex Beer and BSO Harbor Patrol Deputy Rajendra Sukhdeo arrived first on scene, quickly located the flipped vessel and rescued the three individuals from the ocean.
