High-Speed Horror On Kalaeloa Ramp As Kapolei Teen Rider Dies

Late Tuesday night, an 18-year-old man riding a motorcycle lost control on the Kalaeloa Boulevard off-ramp in Kapolei and slammed into a concrete barrier. The rider was thrown onto the roadway and rushed to a nearby hospital in serious condition, where he was later pronounced dead. The collision happened just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

Police say speed was a factor

According to the Honolulu Police Department, the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on the Kalaeloa Boulevard off-ramp at a high rate of speed when he lost control and hit the concrete barrier. HPD reported that the rider was wearing a helmet but was ejected from the motorcycle. Investigators wrote that speed appears to be a contributing factor, and it is still unknown whether drugs or alcohol played any role.
