Man indicted for alleged stabbing at Wahiawa McDonald’s

WAHIAWA, Hawaii (Island News) — A 24-year-old man was indicted on an assault charge and other offenses after he allegedly stabbed a man inside a McDonald’s in Wahiawa on Monday afternoon.

The suspect, 24-year-old Austin Smith, stabbed a 66-year-old man inside the McDonald’s, located at the intersection of Olive Avenue and Kamehameha Highway, at 3:15 p.m. on Monday, July 27, according to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD). The victim was critically injured and taken to the hospital by first responders.

Smith was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest after the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney reviewed the case. He was indicted on all three charges in court on Friday, July 31…
