PUPUKEA, Hawaii (Island News) — National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries confirmed that a young Hawaiian monk seal has died on the North Shore after it was found on Saturday.
NOAA and its Hawaii Marine Animal Response (HMAR) and Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) partners responded to a community tip about a seal in distress on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026.
