Dump truck crashes into Waiawa overpass, closing two lanes on H-1

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A truck that crashed into the Waiawa overpass caused heavy traffic for drivers.

On Friday, Sep. 4, around 1:08 p.m., Honolulu police said a dump truck traveling eastbound on the H-1 freeway struck the Waiawa overpass, causing the trailer to be lodged under the bridge.

HPD said there were no reported injuries, but another vehicle that was also driving east hit debris from the collision.

Hawaii DOT said the trailer has since been cleared, but two lanes, including the shoulder lane, remain closed as crews respond to the scene…
