HONOLULU (KHON2) — Kauhale villages were meant to move people out of homelessness quickly.
But the state auditor, in a report released Wednesday, said the statewide Office on Homelessness and Housing Solutions, which oversees the initiative, was “not prepared to implement the Kauhale Initiative and did not provide the oversight necessary to protect public funds.”
