Farinas was allegedly involved in an altercation between two groups that resulted in a shooting from one of the groups vehicle as they fled the scene.

Farinas alleged reckless shooting resulted in one of the stray bullets hitting 64-year-old Andrew Quisquirin as he stood in his driver.

Police confirmed Quisquirin had nothing to do with the incident.

“Mr. Farinas may not have been trying to shoot Mr. Quisquirin, but this was no accident,” said Prosecuting Attorney Steve Alm. “Mr. Quisquirin wouldn’t have been killed if Mr. Farinas hadn’t intentionally tried to shoot and kill other people as alleged.”

Farinas was charged for the murder due to Hawaii law that includes a provision which allows a person to be charged for a crime even if the victim was not the intended victim.
