DOT opens Zipper Lane to all in hopes of easing heavy traffic Wednesday morning

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Slick roads and multiple crashes throughout the morning are bumping up drive times for those heading out Wednesday morning.

In response to traffic congestion on the H-1 Freeway, the Hawaii Department of Transportation has opened the Zipper Lane to all drivers.

The DOT said the Zipper Lane will remain open for an extended period until traffic subsides.

Over on Kalanianaole Highway, traffic is backed up heading into town from Hawaii Kai.
