Waioli Church opens their doors to support community after Manoa murder-suicide

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A week after the horrific Manoa murder-suicide and the community is still grieving the loss of their neighbors lives.

Waioli Tea Room and The Salvation Army opened up Waioli Church so the community could come together in prayer and support.

The Oda family is severely missed, especially the keiki who lost their friends, whether they were friends with 17-year-old Sakurako, 12-year-old Orion or 10-year-old Nana.

“Well, this was such a huge shock to our community. We felt the shockwave go through and we have we’ve been given the baton that is while the kitchen now and we knew that we wanted to do something,” said Stefanie Anderson, Pastor and owner of Waioli Kitchen and Bake Shop.

“We felt like the darkness was getting darker. And we just wanted to light a candle in the darkness and give our community a place to come to gather to grieve and pray.”

HPD revealed the motive behind the deaths was financial troubles.

Anderson wants to relay a message to the community that no matter what tough times you endure, you can make it out the other side.
