Negligent homicide investigation opened after multi-vehicle crash kills one woman

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A woman is dead, following a crash involving multiple vehicles on Big Island Saturday.

It happened shortly after 2 p.m. on Daniel K. Inouye highway.

According to police, a sedan had been overtaking vehicles when it crashed head-on into an SUV.

The SUV then struck a pick-up truck.

Police said the drivers of all three vehicles were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The passenger in the SUV — an 80-year-old woman — was pronounced dead at the hospital.
