HONOLULU (KHON2) — Local vendors and community gathered at the Hawaiʻi State Capital to aid the 4th Annual Food Drive Fest on May 5.

“It’s an ongoing effort to support food banks, nourishing our ohana, supporting all of our neighbors across the state that are struggling with food insecurity,” said Traci Alo, Hawaiʻi Foodbank’s director of communications. “It supports our ability to feed over 160,000 people that we serve monthly.”

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor hosted the event in support of the Hawaiʻi Foodbank’s State Employees’ Food Drive.

“Having the state’s support is phenomenal,” Alo said. “We still see one in three families in the state struggling with food insecurity and so what this means the collaboration and partnership with the state and foodbank is that we’re able to reach every family in every zip code that is facing that problem and serve them wholeheartedly.”

The public could enjoy a variety of ‘ono eats, treats and snacks from the following vendors:

  • Aloha Below Zero
  • Boxed Up Cookies
  • Chibi Confectionery
  • Kahoa and Papas
  • Local Poke Bowl
  • Nabeyamaido
  • Rep. Matayoshi’s Office Dirty Sodas
  • Samasama Tea
  • Sippin’ Pretty
  • Teruyas Andagi
  • Waba Snacks

Non-perishable food and monetary donations for the foodbank were welcome. The food drive continues through the end of May with the goal of raising enough money and donations to provide 400,000 meals…
