More than 30 HISD schools will not participate in federal universal free lunch program in 2026-27

In the 2026-27 school year, more than 30 Houston ISD schools will not be participating in a federal program currently providing universal free lunch to thousands of students.

The change comes after the Trump administration made sweeping changes to federal food assistance and the number of Texans participating dropped.
