Storms continue to slam into Texas as forecasters track a tropical disturbance that could strengthen into the Atlantic season’s first named storm.
The Houston area is under a flood watch until the evening hours of Wednesday, June 17, for periods of moderate to heavy rain expected through the day — additional rainfall that could total 2 to 4 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
Coastal areas have the greatest potential for flooding. Flash flooding is also possible, with some counties, including Brazoria, Galveston and Chambers, forecasted to receive isolated totals of 5 to 10 inches of rain, the National Weather Service said.
