15-year-old boy drowns in flooded retention pond in Montgomery County, sheriff’s office says

After bouts of heavy rainfall Monday and Tuesday, more rain is expected Wednesday in the Houston region, according to the National Weather Service.

A 15-year-old boy drowned Tuesday night in a flooded retention pond in Magnolia, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

As the Houston region faced continued rain and flooding risks, a group of teenagers was playing near a retention pond in the 30000 block of Turniff Circle, where the boy entered the water, the sheriff’s office wrote in a Tuesday night social media post.

“The depth of the water quickly exceeded the juvenile’s height, and he went under and did not resurface,” the sheriff’s office wrote in its post. “… At this time, there are no indications of foul play.”…
