Pasadena armed robbery leads to crash with 18-wheeler on I-610 in NE Houston, police say

A jewelry heist at a Pasadena pawn shop led to a pair of crashes and a possible death Thursday morning involving two 18-wheelers along Interstate 610 in northeast Houston, according to authorities.

The back-to-back collisions involved a Nissan Altima that was carrying two armed men who stole jewelry from a Cash America Pawn shop on Pasadena Boulevard at around 9:23 a.m., the Pasadena Police Department said. A person may have been killed in a crash that took place shortly after between a heavy truck and a passenger vehicle, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The crash happened on the northbound side of I-610 near the I-10 interchange, Houston TranStar showed.

Law enforcement responded to the scene of the robbery after the suspects fled, and an officer eventually spotted their vehicle on the northbound side of I-610 near Market Street, according to Pasadena police. An 18-wheeler struck the Nissan as the sedan “exited” Market Street and proceeded to push it down the median and back onto I-610, where a second collision occurred with another 18-wheeler near the exit ramp to I-10, police said…
