The Heights is losing yet another member of its dining community. Blue Tuba, the restaurant known for its authentic European cuisine that brought flavors of Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, France, and the Czech Republic to Houston foodies and casual diners, is reportedly set to serve its last patron at the end of the month.
Open for a little more than a year, the “Euro-Tex” restaurant located at 350 West 19th Street took over the upstairs space that had been Harold’s in the Heights. Vlado Kolenic and Giga Leszayova, both Czech natives, moved to Houston from New York in 2023 and quickly immersed themselves in Texas culture, bringing eats from all across Europe and housing them at Blue Tuba.
David LaDuca, who often performed live at Blue Tuba, took to Facebook to say that while “nothing good lasts forever,” he was thankful to Kolenic and Leszayova for their “generosity and friendship.”…
