HOUSTON (CW39) – Houston-area families looking for a cool way to beat the summer heat will have an opportunity to pick up a free watermelon next week while meeting local deputies during a community giveaway hosted by Constable Mark Herman.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, beginning at 10 a.m. at Atkinson Farms Produce on Spring Cypress Road. Organizers say homegrown watermelons will be available free of charge, with one watermelon provided per family while supplies last.
