Houston man shot near Liberty Road after corner store visit

A Houston man in his 40s was shot late Tuesday night after a routine trip to buy a soda turned dangerous.

The incident happened around 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 15 near Liberty Road and Staples Street. According to Houston Police Department, the man had just left a nearby corner store when he encountered an unknown individual. A confrontation broke out for reasons that remain unclear, and the suspect opened fire — striking the victim in the ankle and buttocks.

Despite his injuries, the man was able to make his way back home and call for help. Houston Fire Department transported him to a nearby hospital. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening…
