HOUSTON – Houston’s 419 Emancipation Center has helped 124 people move into permanent housing during its first roughly three and a half months of operation, but new data from the City of Houston also shows 147 people have exited without a documented permanent housing placement.
The facility, designed to help people experiencing homelessness transition from the streets into housing and supportive services, opened in late May. The city says 423 individuals have been served so far.
There are currently 201 people staying at 419 Emancipation, which is also the center’s current capacity. The average stay is 23 days…
