Traffic slowed and nerves tightened along Sheldon Road from the Interstate 10 feeder to the Bear Bayou area in Channelview on Monday as a heavy law-enforcement presence zeroed in on a reported fugitive. Deputies flooded the corridor and urged drivers and residents to steer clear while what officials described as an active operation played out.

Precinct 3 Constable Sherman Eagleton said “deputies are currently conducting an ongoing operation in the area,” according to Click2Houston. The outlet reported that officials had not released details about the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the search.

Residents were urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement at 713-274-2500, Click2Houston noted. Authorities said the situation remained active and that additional updates were expected as deputies continued canvassing the area.
