Houston’s newest arcade is coming to an old grocery store

A former Houston-area grocery store could soon get a very different second life as a massive arcade.

According to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Super Ants Arcade and Storage is planned for 8800 W. Sam Houston Pkwy. South in southwest Houston. The planned arcade project appears to be located in the same commercial complex that houses Budget Restaurant Supply and an event center along the West Sam Houston Parkway corridor.

The filing describes the project as a “conversion from grocery store to Arcade /warehouse” spanning more than 114,000 square feet. Construction is expected to begin in December and continue through December 2027, with an estimated cost of $6 million…
