Long Beach Amphitheater Opens Less Than Six Months After Breaking Ground

Now that naming rights have been secured by FMB, Long Beach’s new $21 million amphitheater opens this week with a show from hometown hero Snoop Dogg.

California’s new waterfront amphitheater, the FMB Amphitheater of Long Beach, will open this week, only six months after Legends Global broke ground on the $21 million project. Naming rights were secured by Farmers & Merchants Bank of Long Beach in a multi-year agreement.

Now, Long Beach native Snoop Dogg will headline the venue’s grand opening on Saturday, June 6, with surprise guests set to join in to celebrate the city’s first outdoor venue.

“We want this venue to feel like it truly belongs to Long Beach, which means serving the full range of the community,” said Tra Jones, the amphitheater’s general manager. “We want major international headliners on this stage, but we also see this as a platform for emerging artists and community celebrations. We are proud to build this next chapter alongside a partner with such deep roots in this community.”

The timing couldn’t be better, with a slew of major entertainment events kicking off in the Los Angeles area in the next couple of years. That includes this year’s World Cup, the Super Bowl in 2027, and the Olympics in 2028.

Aside from Snoop Dogg, acts like Ice Cube, Lil Wayne, Toto, Luke Bryan, Mötley Crüe, and Claypool Gold have already been booked for performances lined up through October. The venue is expected to host over 300,000 people annually, with a flexible capacity of 6,000 to 11,000. It will feature premier VIP and hospitality areas and premium coastal views…
