Upscale L.A. restaurant repeatedly violated state, federal commercial fishing laws: CDFW

An investigation by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife revealed an upscale restaurant in Los Angeles repeatedly violated state and federal commercial fishing laws.

CDFW said in a news brief on Monday that their investigation into Dudley Market in Venice uncovered “numerous” violations that included unlawful purchase, possession and sale of sport-caught fish. In California, it is illegal to sell sport-caught fish commercially; fish taken by a commercial vessel also must be lawfully brought to port and documented on an electronic fish ticket before being removed, CDFW says.

The fish and wildlife department identified three people who were responsible for running the business in 2020 and 2021, when the violations occurred: 37-year-old Conner Mitchell, 41-year-old Taylor Grant and 30-year-old Cody Martin.
