Long Beach police arrest suspect in deadly Harbor Avenue stabbing

An 18-year-old Long Beach man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing earlier this month, authorities announced.

On June 1, officers with the Long Beach Police Department responded to the 1800 block of Harbor Avenue around 8:30 p.m. on reports that a person had been stabbed, according to a department news release.

The location provided by police is near the intersection of Harbor Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, not far from the 710 Freeway.

Arriving officers located the victim, 22-year-old Long Beach resident Arnoldo Andre Garcia Mendoza, suffering from a life-threatening stab wound. Medical personnel with the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and rushed Mendoza to a hospital, where he later died.
