Long Beach teens can apply for free three-day summer camp

Long Beach teens ages 13-17 can apply to a free three-day, two-night camp at Castaic Lake, with applications closing July 22.

This program will allow 90 teens to embark on an Outdoor Youth Connection Camp, with a focus on building skills in leadership, communication, self-esteem and team building. The camp will take place at Castaic Lake, which is located northwest of Los Angeles County. Spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and the camp will take place Aug. 7-9.

“The Outdoor Youth Connection Camp is an incredible opportunity for our teens to step into nature, discover new strengths and build confidence,” said Mayor Rex Richardson in a public statement. “This free camp reflects our commitment to offering experiences that empower young people through leadership, teamwork and time in nature.”

This camp is funded by a portion of a $175,000 Outdoor Equity Grant, created through Assembly Bill 209 and administered by the California State Parks Office of Grants and Local Services.
