Suspect, innocent bystander, die following dangerous pursuit, officer-involved shooting in Southern California

The Ontario Police Department says two people are dead after a dangerous pursuit, and an officer-involved shooting Sunday morning.

Authorities initially received a call about a disturbance in the 400 block of West Maple Street around 10 a.m.

The caller informed emergency officials that his sister’s ex-boyfriend was parked outside their home, and was threatening to enter the residence if the woman did not come outside.

The male caller informed officers that there had been numerous instances of domestic violence involving the suspect, and he had threatened his sister with a firearm previously.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located the suspect — who had an outstanding warrant — sitting inside his vehicle. Ontario police commanded the suspect to surrender, but he refused telling responders that he did not want to go back to jail.

The man then fled the scene, leading officers on a dangerous pursuit throughout the city. Ontario PD says the suspect was speeding on surface streets and proceeded to drive against traffic on a nearby freeway.
