The City of Laguna Beach has banned the sale and use of glue traps within the city.
Passed unanimously in the consent agenda during the April 28 meeting, the ordinance prohibits the setting, placement and use of glue traps to capture or kill any animal in Laguna Beach. According to the ordinance, the decision comes “in accordance with evolving standards of morality, scientific discovery and human experience” as the city council “recognizes the importance of preventing unnecessary suffering by various animals caused by the use and implementation of glue traps.”
The decision has gotten national attention, including from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), whose campaign against the use of glue traps has led retailers such as CVS, Target, Walgreens, Dollar General and Dollar Tree to ban them…
