‘We have heard your voices’: After protests, Edgewater HOA scraps plan to euthanize geese

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — The Edgewater Homeowners Association has reversed its decision to euthanize Canada geese at Lady Ann Lake following days of strong pushback from residents.

The announcement comes after protesters gathered Sunday and Monday at the lake, urging the HOA to consider non-lethal solutions instead of using carbon monoxide gassing, a method previously approved and considered legal under federal guidelines.

Moving forward, the HOA says it will spend the next year working with residents and a newly formed Wildlife and Environmental Impact Subcommittee to study humane, long-term solutions for managing the geese population.
