Family calls for safety upgrade at Madison County railroad crossing after death of loved ones

GURLEY, Ala. (WHNT) – A family is calling for Huntsville city and state leaders to install railroad crossing gates after loved ones were killed at an intersection in May.

The driver of the car was identified as Keegan Scott Davis, 36, of Gurley and his 8-year-old daughter, McKinley. Huntsville police said another child was injured but has since been released from the hospital.

The crossing at Salty Bottom Road does not have warning gates. The tracks are, however, marked with an “X” for a rail crossing…
