As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, communities across North Alabama are marking the milestone with patriotic festivities, from hometown parades and live music to spectacular firework displays and family-friendly festivals. Here’s where you can join the celebration this Independence Day weekend.
First Fridays — Florence
July 3rd
Downtown Florence comes alive for one of the Shoals’ favorite monthly traditions during First Fridays. Stroll Court Street while browsing handmade goods from local artisans, listening to live music, grabbing dinner from local restaurants or food vendors and enjoying a festive evening with family and friends. The free community event runs from 5:30-9 p.m. during the summer months, making it the perfect way to kick off the holiday weekend.
July 3 Firework Extravaganza — Guin
July 3rd
Kick off Independence Day weekend at Guin’s July 3 Firework Extravaganza, an evening filled with live music, local vendors and family-friendly fun. Browse arts and crafts vendors, check out the car show, enjoy food from local vendors and catch performances by Southern Legends Band and the Kerry Gilbert Band before the night wraps up with a fireworks display at 9 p.m. The free event takes place from 6-10 p.m. at Guin-Hayden Riley Park, and attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
