Madison approved contract for short term rental monitoring

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — The City of Madison has approved a contract to help it bring short-term rental properties into compliance with the city’s ordinances.

During its regular meeting on Monday, the council approved an agreement with Deckard Technologies to use their Rentalscape software to monitor short-term rentals in the city and provide an online complaint form.

The software will allow the city to keep track of short-term rental properties listed or previously listed in the city. The idea is that the city will be able to keep up with which properties are properly licensed and complying with city ordinances and which ones aren’t.

The contract will cost the city $8,000 for at least the first year, with the need to renew it every year. The city said it doesn’t know what the service will cost after the first year, but the council can move to not renew the contract if it does not like the renewal terms…
