A Bluetooth-enabled credit card skimmer hidden inside a gas pump at the Local Express gas station along U.S. Highway 72 has Cherokee police urging drivers to take extra precautions the next time they fill up.
Cherokee Police Chief Billy Jefferson said the device was unlike anything he has encountered because it was concealed inside the gas pump rather than attached to the card reader.
After discovering the skimmer on Monday, police had every other gas station in town inspected, and found no additional devices. Jefferson said the department is also sharing information with neighboring law enforcement agencies as the investigation continues…
