Alabama A&M music educator and philanthropist Nell Lane Bradford dies at 104

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Nell Lane Bradford, a longtime music educator, philanthropist and fixture at Alabama A&M University, has died at the age of 104.

Former students, community leaders and church members took to social media to remember Bradford, whom many affectionately called “Mother Bradford.” Posts described her as a mentor, teacher and woman of faith, with many saying her encouragement changed the course of their lives.

Bradford’s dedication to education and the arts continued long after her retirement. In 2016, friends established the Dr. Henry Bradford Jr. and Mrs. Nell Lane Bradford Scholarship Foundation, which provides scholarships to Alabama students pursuing education, ministry, service and the arts…
