13-year-old returning to Calhoun Community College after ‘exceptional freshman year’

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Only a year after making history as Calhoun Community College’s youngest student ever, one 13-year-old will begin his sophomore year this August.

The school said that Van-Houston McMillion is returning to campus after an “exceptional” freshman year. McMillion was admitted to Calhoun at 11-years-old and enrolled at 12. He completed his first year with a 3.5 GPA and earned Dean’s List honors.

“Overall, it was an incredible experience,” he said. “Starting college at 13 wasn’t a typical path, but it ended up being a great one. I came in not knowing what to expect, and by the end of the year I felt much more confident as both a student and a person.”…
